June is Brain Health Month. Are you doing Everything You can to Keep Your Noggin Spry and Sharp?

Brain Health & Alzheimer' are two critical health issues that need to be addressed not only post menopausally but from adolescence through one's senior postmenopausal years. Nurse Practitioners are trained to address these issues across the life span.

This June, we recognize Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Awareness Month two critical areas where Women's Health Nurse Practitioners lead across the continuum of women’s health.

Women account for nearly two-thirds of Alzheimer’s cases. Women's Health Nurse Practitioners are in a powerful position to influence brain health early and often, long before symptoms arise. Our care spans adolescence through aging, allowing us to support brain health through lifestyle interventions and education on nutrition, physical activity, mental stimulation, sleep hygiene, stress management, and social engagement, all of which play vital roles in cognitive preservation.

Women's Health Nurse Practitioners also serve as trusted educators and advocates. We can screen for cognitive changes, initiate conversations about memory and mood, and connect patients with resources and interventions that support mental agility, emotional wellness, and neurologic protection. In doing so, we reframe brain health as an essential part of preventive care, not just a concern for later life.
